A Brief History of Sosmetal Products, Inc.

  1. Harry Soskin, The Founder of our Firm

    In 1913 while Woodrow Wilson was still president and milk was just thirty-six cents per gallon, Harry Soskin was busy laying the foundations of Sosmetal’s success. Harry Soskin was a highly intelligent and talented Inventor and held several patents for his works. He was also an Engineer, Tool & Die Maker and Master Mechanic.

     

  2. Milton Soskin, The Visionary

    Harry’s son, Milton, was born in June of 1925. Milton was the youngest of the Soskin children. As a child, Milt was very talented and always had a mind for business. He was always finding creative ways to help his family financially. At the age of eighteen, Milt enlisted in the United States Army. He spent four years serving our country during World War II spending much of his time in Europe with Company C – 130 1st Engineer Regiment. He attained the rank of Corporal during his time with the Army and became an excellent marksman with the M1 rifle. Milt was honorably discharged from the United States Army in January 1946 at the end of World War II.

  3. Sosmetal Products Company

    Upon arriving home from the war, Milton, along with his father “Pop”, opened a tool & die shop in Philadelphia, PA. Keeping things true to the family name of Soskin, Sosmetal Products Company was born. It was in this shop that Milton and “Pop” would manufacture custom automotive grills and chrome accessories for the automotive industry. They would continue to design and build products for many successful years.

  4. Distributors & Manufacturers of Automotive Parts

    In the early 1950’s Milton had a vision for their company. Knowing that the automotive industry was changing, he wanted to offer his customers more than just chrome grills and accessories. It was at this point that Sosmetal Products started growing their product line at an exponential rate by becoming a distributor of products like Body Mouldings & Accessories, Lights, Door Handles, Lock Cylinders, Gear Shift Knobs, Hub Caps, Etc.  From this point forward Sosmetal Products became a manufacturer and distributor of automotive parts.

  5. Distributors & Manufacturers of Automotive Parts: Product Expansion

    Through the late 1950’s Sosmetal Products offerings continued to grow at a tremendous rate while still manufacturing chrome grills and accessories. By 1958 our catalog tripled in size adding to the popular lines of Hardware, Automotive Accessories, Body Parts, Hydraulic Brake Parts, Ignition & Electrical Products, & Transmission Parts.

  6. Limited Manufacturing.. Focus on Distrubution

    In the 1960’s Sosmetal Products continued to expand by adding additional parts and product lines. On-site manufacturing slowly began to phase out due to the changing automotive market.

  7. National Distributor of Automotive Parts and Accessories

    By the early 1970’s Sosmetal Products had become a National Distributor of Automotive Parts and Accessories.

     

  8. A Recognized Name in the Industry

    By the late 1980’s Sosmetal Products, Inc. had continued to experience tremendous growth in both our product line and salesforce and had become a recognized name in the Industry.

  9. Celebrating 50-Years of Service

    In 1996, Sosmetal Products, Inc. had celebrated its 50th Anniversary. By this time our product line consisted of both automotive products and industrial products.

  10. Continuing To Evolve

    Sosmetal Products, Inc. has continued to evolve through the decades. Constantly adding new items and problem solvers to our product line. Through the years our product catalogs continued to grow to contain the many high-quality items that you depend on.
